This Gluten Free Hamburger Helper is made in one pan in under 30 minutes and so delicious! Dairy free and sure to become a family favorite.
Hamburger helper was one of the first meals I would make for myself when I moved out on my own. I loved how quick it was to make a full meal and that is just what this is, but using all gluten free ingredients. This is a meal I'll be making over and over and even my young daughter loves it. This is a great base that is easy to eat, but if you prefer spicier food, feel free to add some peppers or spicy seasonings.
Ingredients for gluten free hamburger helper
Ground beef- one pound of ground beef is used. This can be subbed out for ground turkey if desired.
Seasonings- salt, onion powder and garlic powder are used to season this meal.
Broth- one cup of beef broth is used for added flavor.
Water- this is needed to cook the pasta.
Milk- this makes the dish creamy and any milk will work. I use almond milk but coconut milk, oat milk or cows milk will all work. Using a dairy free milk will keep this dish dairy free.
Coconut aminos- just a little is used for an added flavor boost. This could technically be left out, but I don't recommend it. Soy sauce or liquid aminos are not a substitute for this as it could add gluten (soy sauce) or be too salty.
Gluten free pasta- Jovial is my favorite brand of gluten free pasta because it holds up so well and doesn't lose its shape. I've made this with many of their shapes, I just recommend a small shape vs a longer spaghetti-like noodle.
Making hamburger helper
This dish is all made in one pan in under 30 minutes. Brown the ground beef with the seasonings then add the water, broth, milk, coconut aminos and pasta. Bring that to a boil, cover and cook until the pasta is tender- that's it! It is super quick and simple and because it's made in one pan, clean up is super simple.
Storing Pasta
Store covered in the fridge for up to a week and to reheat, warm up in a pan with about a tablespoon of water or it can be warmed up in the microwave.
I know you will love this gluten free hamburger helper because it's so quick to make and family friendly. The creamy sauce coats all the noodles and the beef makes this so hearty. Here are some more dinners to try:
