These Paleo Vegan Tootsie Rolls are soft, chewy, and so delicious! A no-bake treat that is gluten free, dairy free, nut free, and naturally sweetened.

Nut-Free Tootsie Rolls
Using No Added Sugar SunButter as the base of these candies keeps them nut free. That also means they are completely sweetened with dates, since the butter is just sunflower seeds and salt. If needed, a tablespoon of coconut flour can be added if the mixture seems to oily. Being nut free means they would be perfect for anyone with allergies or school lunches (for those doing in person school).
No Bake Treats
These little bites of deliciousness require no baking at all. They come together in just minutes in a food processor. A high powdered blender would also work. Once blended it just takes a few minutes to roll them into the classic shape. Optional step is to roll them in wax paper, making them just like the real candy.
I made these for my sister who used to LOVE tootsie rolls, but eats strict paleo now. I knew they passed the test when she approved of them. She did give me the tip that they are best stored in the freezer for optimal chew factor. They can be kept at room temperature or in the fridge, but if you want them to be just like the original then pop these bad boys in the freezer.
I know you will love these paleo vegan tootsie rolls because they are easy to make and so tasty. Here are some more copycat recipes to try:

I don't have a food processor, but I do have a blender. Do you think I could use a blender for this recipe? I also have date paste could I use it instead of whole dates?
Thanks
Carmen

Hi Carmen- if you have date paste then you may be able to just mix it in a bowl, no blender. But a blander would work, yes, is using whole dates 🙂
