This Paleo Whole30 Ranch Dressing is thick, creamy, fresh, and so delicious! Easy, comes together quick, and made with all real ingredients. Dairy free and loaded with flavor.
This Ranch Dressing is so good and you will not miss the store bought stuff at all! It is surprisingly easy and takes only a couple minutes to make. I use my homemade mayo in it, but you can also use a paleo store bought version, just check for added sugar. I know there is a clean version made by Primal Kitchen with no added sugar or any other unwanted ingredients. Homemade is easy and cheaper, but they both will work.
I love using this for my Paleo Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole, Buffalo Chicken Casserole (paleo), and Paleo Chicken Bacon Ranch Potato Skins.
The rest is just some seasonings that you probably already have on hand. A little garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and parsley. So simple. When you first mix it, the best thing to use is a whisk because you will want to get all the little lumps out of the coconut cream. It will only take a minute, but is important to make smooth. It will set up in the fridge and turn thick. Not too thick where you can't dip veggies, but not watery at all.
This is the perfect dressing to use for veggies, salads, meat, basically anything. It's delicious, easy, and healthy! I know you'll love it! Of course, this is gluten free and dairy free as well. Try it and see for yourself how simple homemade is- you'll be hooked!

Totally allergic to coconut over here! Any suggestions for alternatives to the coconut cream? Thanks in advance! 🙂
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Kristen- you can use all mayonnaise. It may be a little thinner, but would still taste great. You're welcome- enjoy!

PS, I would also like to add that I used regular coconut milk in the can (that I kept in the refrigerator) and only used half of the water in it at the bottom. I didn't have coconut "cream".
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks for that feedback! That is helpful for other people to know that works as well. Thanks!

I made this for the family and some guests for dinner. It tasted like REAL creamy buttermilk ranch dressing. It was the first time I made ranch, ever. Some various store bought "ranch" dressings remind me of tarter sauce that has been sitting out in the sun too long. This recipe tastes like the real Hidden Valley flavor. It's so creamy. I wondered if it would taste like coconut or have a hint of it, but it doesn't. It passed the super picky kid test, too! There wasn't much left to worry about saving. I want to thank you for sharing this. It was not even complicated and there wasn't a lot of odd stuff needed to buy for ingredients in order to make it. Super simple, super delicious, super good for you. I think I'm going to make some of this to give as gifts along with a cute tag on the jar with the recipe and your website URL. I appreciate that you took the time to make this and give instructions. Thank you.

Thank you so much, Lydia! This comment made my day 🙂 I'm so glad you and your family like it! What a great idea to give it as gifts. I've thought about pre-mixing the dry ingredients to make it come together quicker, but I've never been that organized 😉 Thank you for trying it and for the great feedback! You are so kind.
Mirella says
Hi!!!
Can I use onions, garlic, parsley and pepper fresh? What happen if I do that?
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Mirella! You can definitely use those, but I'd use the powder, not fresh. I hope you enjoy it!
Kortnie Tesdall says
Does it taste like coconut?!
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Kortnie- not at all! It taste just like ranch 🙂 I hope you try it!
Mary says
Can I use a can of full fat coconut milk? I am not sure Ive seen a can of coconut cream in my store...
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Mary- if you can't find coconut cream, my suggestion would be to place two cans of full fat coconut milk in the fridge for a couple hours, then open and use the thick part on top. You can use the water for smoothies or however else you want. I hope that helps and I hope you try the dressing. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Georgia says
This ranch is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing! I just completed the Whole30 and could not have gotten through without your recipes. Namely the sloppy joes with Whole30 ketchup! Thanks again.
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks, Georgia! I'm so glad my recipes helped with your Whole30! 🙂 You're welcome- thanks for making them!
Kristin says
Any idea about how long this would stay good in the fridge
I'm the only one in my family eating strictly df and gf and I'd hate to waste some of it.
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Kristin! I would say probably two weeks. I don't know for sure because it goes pretty quick around here. I don't think you'll have a hard time eating through it in that time and I think even the people that aren't df and gf will enjoy it if they give it a chance. I hope you try it and enjoy it!
Savannah says
It should be good until the expiration date of the mayo. If you use homemade mayo, the expiration date on that will be the expiration date on the egg you use!
Jessica DeMay says
Great point, Savannah!
Kelli says
Thank you for that info, I've always wondered and probably thrown away before I should a lot.
Thanks for the recipe too! If I am sibo/fodmap what spices would you use instead of garlic and onion?
Thank you!
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Kelli- I would do garlic oil in place of the garlic and chives in place of the onion.
Brian says
This looks so good! Can't wait to try it out!
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks, Brian! I hope you love it!
Mary Ann | The Beach House Kitchen says
Wow! Some coconut cream in the recipe! I would not have thought of that! I will definitely have to try!
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks, Mary Ann! Yes, it makes it so creamy- you would never guess there is no dairy in it! Enjoy!
Danielle says
Does this taste like coconut at all? Dan
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Danielle- not at all! It tastes just like ranch. I think you'll love it!
NORMA WATT says
I can't find coconut cream that doesn't contain sugar... will coconut milk work?
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Norma- I'm guessing you're looking at the coconut cream by the alcoholic drinks? They also sell it in the aisle with all the Asian food and it has no added sugar. If you only have coconut milk- that top part that is thick- that's the cream. That will also work. I hope you like the ranch!
